Sharon L Bowen
Born: 12/01/1969 in Chorley, Lancashire, England
Sharon's involvement with German
Shepherds began back in the early 70s when her parents broke every rule
in the book and bought a puppy registered simply as 'Alpine Bloom' from
dis-reputable breeders who had no knowledge or experience of the breed.
The bitch known as 'Sheba' was worked in obedience making 'Test A'
standard. It was during this time Sharon's mother developed an interest
in the showing side of the breed and formed the Shacarn affix under
which she bred the multiple champ show winning dog Shacarn Achen born in
1976. The Shacarn affix was short lived and breeding would continue
from 1980 under the Pendledene affix.
During her childhood, the preference was for ponies and Labradors, unfortunately both were out of the question and so make shift jumps were erected in the garden and the dogs [on leads] used as substitute horses in a performance of the Horse of the Year show. Sharon had a love of animals but no interest in showing German Shepherds until 1984.

In 1984 an Emmevale Zarroff daughter arrived who changed Sharon's attitude towards GSDs. The puppy was Garmarti Mary Rose of Pendledene, known as "Rosy" and with the exception of a 6 month quarantine stay the two were inseparable until Rosy died in 1996. Sharon made her handling debut with Rosy in 1984 at Reedyford Open show under John Young finishing a credible fourth in Minor Puppy. The interest developed and with the help of Harry & Rose Emmett of the Emmevale kennel Sharon gained more handling experience
and eventually was offered better dogs to handle. Class placings developed into class winners, then CC winners and champions, gaining titles with Ch Santina Carerra and Ch Cotchees Digger and assisting the likes of Ch Tyeglen Rommi, Ch Alatrak Banma and Ch Zuberg Lyric along the way to their titles. The favourite CC to win with any of the dogs was at the 2 Day National in 1998, Ch Kurtridge Dino owned by Beryl Budd won open dog and the CC at the prestigious event under judge Rudiger Mai.
Sharon is a Committee member of the GSD Club of Wales.
Sharon became a Kennel Club Championship Show Judge in 2005. She has awarded Challenge Certificates on two occasions and Green Stars with International CACIBs in Ireland once.
